Back in November I made a post on Facebook entitled 'TEMPLATE 101- Dish the Dirt'. It was an experiment to ask photographers what problems they faced when using Photoshop templates.
One reoccurring problem was "How to keep my branding look consistent when using templates from different designers?"
So here my top tips to keep your branding on track!
You can easily access your brand colors in a jiffy and use them consistently. But...hang on! Before you put this in the 'too hard basket', let me tell you something. This will be one of the quickest tips to implement AND the most time saving little nugget of greatness that you'll WILL be kicking yourself that you have not implemented it before now.
So once you have your 'Brand Colors' in their own swatch palette you will be able to access these colours super fast when adapting your templates.
For brand consistency...don't deviate from your brand fonts. What are my brand fonts I hear you ask?!! Well let's just clarify that.
But what if your Primary font is more legible that your secondary font? Well just use the more legible font when writing paragraphs. There is no hard and fast rule. However remember to use the fonts you have chosen repeatedly throughout your customer literature.
PRIMARY FONT: This is the font used in your logo.
SECONDARY FONT: This is the font used in your logo tagline (if you have one).
BODY TEXT FONT: This is the font that you use for paragraphs of text in your marketing literature. It is usually a 'regular' or 'light' version of the SECONDARY or PRIMARY FONT
That way your customers will begin to recognise your work just by the font and colour choice -aka- brand recognition!. If you don't do that you can waste away valuable hours choosing between fonts and colours that look good. Trust me!
Even if you love the designers choice of font, you must stick to your brand font/s. Yep...that's the only way your customers will recognise your business (besides your awesome photography of course).
